Today is the day. The last of our (26) $20 Catalinas expired. We had five cats to burn and I think we went out in style.
I did three transactions back-to-back with a very friendly and accommodating cashier.
We are fairly stocked on diapers (about six months worth) from previous Amazon and Walgreens deals, but I felt a bit obligated to buy at least a few. I mooched some coupons from Kate. You know you have a good friend when she gives up coupons for the sake of a blog picture.

I didn’t realize that we were out of olive oil until I was in the store, so I didn’t have the $1/1 Carapelli Oil coupons (rookie mistake). I did have some $.40/1 Darigold Sour Cream tearpad coupons and decided to give the Mexican Style Sour Cream a try. I don’t think Mexicans actually use sour cream, so I’m really wondering if it’s different from American sour cream. Any ideas?

This was my doozy transaction. I calculated the total twice before entering the check stand area and still messed it up. The total came to $19.30 after coupons but before the Catalina, so my cashier ran to get me a candy bar (while yelling over his shoulder, “What’s your favorite?” I yelled back, “Peanut Butter!”). He scanned it. The total was $19.99. It almost killed me. Add another candy bar.
I didn’t want to see a scuffle erupt between my children when they saw the candy bars, so I hid them safely away. In my belly. Before I left the parking lot.

My husband stopped on the way home from work and completed the last two transactions.
If you’re wondering, the banana was a filler to make the transaction over $20.

And honestly, I’m a bit embarrassed to end the challenge with this transaction. It definitely is not a example of stellar deal hunting skills. Okay, I’ll cut the guy some slack. He’s not a professional and I did tell him that he could go freestyle on this transaction, but seriously, how much was the Pad Thai anyway?

There you have it! $520 in 5 days!
