Zaycon Foods: Chicken sale opens tonight at 5 pm Pacific — boneless, skinless chicken breast for $1.49/lb

by Angela Davis on September 27, 2011

The sale is now live, but Zaycon’s site is running slowly. Be patient and try again later tonight or tomorrow morning. Zaycon is assuring people that there is plenty of chicken and they will not sell out tonight.

Zaycon Foods, a Northwest company that sells larger quantity boxes of fresh meat and vegetables at a volume discount, is coming to the Oregon, Washington and Idaho area in October, delivering boneless, skinless chicken breast! This sale will probably sell out quickly, so I want to make sure you’re all prepared.

40 pounds of boneless, skinless chicken breast @ $1.49/lb = $59.60

You will receive a box that contains four bags containing 10 pounds of chicken in each bag. The chicken is not as processed as the chicken breast you buy in the store and you will have to do a bit of work to prepare your chicken for the freezer: rinsing, trimming the fat, separating the breasts and putting them into freezer bags. It took Kate and me about one hour to get 40 pounds of chicken from the box to the freezer.

The sale is now live. Just log in or create your Zaycon account and place your order!

Was able to access site this evening. Hope to see some “Frugal Livers” in Puyallup for delivery on the 18th.

Wow! Now that’s a low price!
Ordered one box, then called the hubby and he said “Order another one!”.
Hey, just another reason why I married that man!

Michelle September 28, 2011 at 8:49 am

Just got my box! It took a bit to get through with all the time outs and such, but it did work.

Julie September 27, 2011 at 11:28 pm

just got my box! Thanks for the reminder :)

Lily September 27, 2011 at 10:26 pm

I just got a box. it took a bit, but I kept trying and it finally went through. I was determined!! :)
Yayyy for cheap chicken!!

Also, for those saying that their location isn’t open. When I simply clicked on “events” it didn’t show anything as open, but when I click on “my account” it gives me the list there of all open sales. Try that if you’re not having any luck still!

Beth September 28, 2011 at 8:36 am

That hadn’t worked yesterday, even clicking on events. There were areas that just said they’d open at 5, but weren’t open. But, they’re working now! YAY!

FB page says to try in the morning and that they have plenty of chicken and don’t plan to run out overnight. We shall see…I keep getting timed out.

Liz September 27, 2011 at 5:45 pm

It’s now 5:45…and nothing..not worth the grief, so I will do without.

Angela September 27, 2011 at 6:38 pm

Check again tomorrow. I highly doubt they will run out by then. It usually takes a few days to sell out.

Amy September 28, 2011 at 6:58 pm

I waited until this morning and had no problem placing my order!

Beth September 27, 2011 at 5:29 pm

And the Vancouver location says, “will open Sept 27th at 5 PM” and it’s after 5 PM… and it isn’t open.

Liz September 27, 2011 at 5:15 pm

The site has either crashed or way too many people are on it and no one else can even log on.

sally September 27, 2011 at 5:11 pm

Can’t get on the site!!!

Iris September 27, 2011 at 5:06 pm

Took a little time but just placed my order, whoohoo!! Now for recipe planning! :)

Tera September 27, 2011 at 5:00 pm

Yay! I just got some :)

Tiffany September 27, 2011 at 4:59 pm

Are you offering the ebook with recipes again? I’ve never gotten it before- but I’m thinking I will this time if it is still available.

Angela September 27, 2011 at 6:36 pm

Yes, we are reformatting the book right now and will launch it in a week or so. Stay tuned!

Maegen September 27, 2011 at 4:14 pm

In their faq section, it says the chicken is all natural and free of additives and hormones.
Not 100% sure whether this applies to antibiotics, though I’d hope so.

We’ve been very happy with their chicken, though I think it’s fair to say this isn’t a deal for everybody. I just ordered my box, and I can’t wait to pick up my chicken at the roller skating rink! :)

Katie September 27, 2011 at 4:03 pm

Thank you for letting us know!!!! I went in with my sister last time and was pleased with the product… not to mention the PRICE!!!

sally September 27, 2011 at 3:29 pm

Do you know when they will be back again? Is it spring? I know I bought from them last in June, so I wasn’t sure of the schedule and wanted to know how much to buy.

Kari September 27, 2011 at 3:40 pm

Sally; it seems like every 6 months or so.
(I ordered last fall and canned the chicken, then in the spring and froze the chicken and need to order again, but split a box cuz last time i got a full one )

Trish September 27, 2011 at 3:03 pm

Is the meat hormone free?

Angela September 27, 2011 at 6:35 pm

Yes, it’s hormone and antibiotic free (at least it was last time around), but that’s it.

Emily September 27, 2011 at 2:40 pm

Does anyone know if the chicken is antibiotic free? I emailed Zaycon days ago and still have not gotten a response.
