Zaycon Foods, a Northwest company that sells larger quantity boxes of fresh meat and vegetables at a volume discount, is coming to the Oregon, Washington and Idaho area at the end of August delivering fresh peaches and strawberries! The last time Zaycon delivered peaches (I think it was August, 2011) people went crazy — apparently the peaches were perfect. In fact, Emily raved about them in her Canning Peaches: A Step-by-Step Guide post.
This sale will probably sell out quickly, so jump on this deal if you’re interested. Go here to create your Zaycon account, view delivery options and to purchase your fruit!
Here’s the skinny:
Fresh freestone (cling-free) peaches — 20 pound case @ $1.25/lb = $25
Fresh strawberries — (2) 8 pound flats packaged in 1 lb clamshells @ $1.99/lb = $31.84
You can order as many cases/flats as you’d like!
Ready to check it out? Just head to Zaycon, create an account and select your preferred delivery locations (I selected a number of Portland area spots since I’d be willing to drive a bit in case the closest location’s delivery date/time isn’t convenient for me) and then purchase your peaches and/or strawberries! Your debit/credit card will be charged now, but the fruit will be delivered in August (see the website for specific locations and delivery times).
For those of you who are new to Zaycon, you will go to the delivery location at the specified time, roll through the parking lot and pick up your boxes of fruit. You don’t have to leave your car.

@Wren – I don’t know what Costco charges, but this seems like a little more than a box of peaches would cost at a farmers market. ProFarm (in Zilah Washington) brings fresh, local, certified organic peaches to our market (Lents) and some other markets every summer when they are in season and they end up around $1/lb when you buy a whole box. Plus ProFarm has a groupon of some sort around peach season almost every year, so they could get even cheaper. But ProFarm’s peaches are not necessarily “perfect” and bruiseless. They are really good and tasty though. 🙂
Thank you so much for the information, Lentilite! Sounds like a farmers market/local farm could still be the way to go. I just wasn’t sure if this Zaycon deal was an *amazing* price or not.
What kind of freestone peaches are they? Lady Elbertas by any chance?
Peaches freeze nicely if you’re into canning. Got to love peach cobbler in the middle of winter!
I ordered 1 unit. I’m sort of wishing is gotten more…
I bought these two years ago (they didn’t sell them last year in my area) and they were the best peaches ever. Not a single bruise on any one of them. They are about $.25/lb more expensive than u-pick for me, but totally worth it in my opinion.
If I’m not planning on canning, were they sweet & juicy to eat? I can share then with my family.
Would love to hear thoughts on this price, is it a great price? Better/worse than Costco? I’m not very good with produce pricing. Thank you!
