This past week wasn’t quite a success, especially compared with last week. There were some valid reasons, however, as I had my dad’s birthday party at my house as well as taking a meal to a family that just had a baby.
I spent a total of $63.90 with $19.81 of that on a Fred Meyer gift card. This brought my weekly out of pocket spending to $44.09. This ended up being more of a “sticking within my budget” week rather than an “Eating from the Pantry” week. I am glad the organizers of this challenge made it clear that the challenge was to fit this in however it worked with each family best. I think what I’m learning from this is that some weeks I simply don’t need to go to the store while other weeks there is room to be flexible.
Here was my food menu.
Sunday: Tortellini Spinach soup with biscuits and jam
Monday: Spaghetti Pie, salad
Tuesday: bean, rice, veggie burritos
Wednesday: burritos again but w/ground beef
Thursday: dinner at friends
Friday: Pizza party, salad, apricot squares, banana cream pie, coconut cream pie
Plus: I made Pasta Fagioli Soup, Italian breadsticks and an apple crisp for a family
Saturday: Crockpot Chicken, salad
