UPDATE: You can print this $1/1 Purex Natural Elements coupon — it may or may not be included in the sale. And be sure to get a raincheck if your store is out. The catalina prints until March 7. Thanks, Frugal Chic Living!

I updated the Fred Meyer weekly post with this deal, but it really needs its own post! This week you can get FREE Purex laundry detergent:

Purex Laundry Detergent on sale $1.99 with weekly ad coupon
Buy (2) 50 oz bottles (NOT the 60 oz ones)
Use (2) $.35/1 coupons from 1/10 RP insert
Pay $3.28, Get $4 Catalina
FREE with $.72 overage after coupons & cat

This catalina will roll to a second transaction:

Buy 2 bottles
Buy $.72+ worth of additional items
Use (2) $.35/1 coupons
Use $4 Catalina from transaction #1
Pay $0+, Get $4 Catalina
FREE with $4 overage after coupons & cats

This is a fantastic deal even if you don’t have the manufacturer’s coupons!

Bummer about the deal being pulled. I had wondered as I tried this today and was not able to get any Catalina’s out of the transaction. 800 bottles is a bit much. Oh well. I guess I should concentrate on Safeway this week

800 bottles !!!! That is ridiculous. That is definitely a “bad apple”. Thanks for letting us know!

    ATTENTION: PUREX CATALINA DEAL PULLED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I just read that this promo has been pulled. Several sites are reporting it and here’s a quote from one:

“Well I just spoke with Advertising at Kroger Corporation at the Corporate offices in Cincinnati. The woman was very kind and did track down the information so I do thank Krogers for the customer service offered in tracking down the truth in the halt of this promotion. The woman in Advertising called me back promptly to inform me that as of Saturday it had been reported to the company of fraudulent purchases being made by convenient store owners and flea market stands who were clearing shelves in multiple stores by purchasing and using the coupons to receive the product for free. Under the preface of fraud, they did remove the Catalina promotion, as stated “One Bad Apple can spoil it for all” by the company. I did question if it would be turned back on after the sales end for what was the remainder of the promotion and was told probably not.”

**Apparently, there was a couple in Cincinnati who cleared out 800 bottles of Purex from 20 stores!!!!

Very aggravating… I hadn’t purchased my Purex yet and was just about to head out…. TOTAL BUMMER.

Do I need to have more than one Fred Meyer in ad coupons to get the deal on purex?

If you get the ones that have 20% more free…the “CAT” will not print.

I did this 3 x at the Newberg, OR Fred Meyer on 2/16 and bought the 50 oz. Free and Clear, hypoallergenic kind. I used 2 of the $0.35/1 from the 1/10 RP the first time also. I added one banana the 2nd and 3rd time for my filler item. I went out to my car after each trip and used a different cashier each time. I assumed that the limit 2 on the coupon meant per transaction not per day. The cat. printed with no problem all three times.

Worked great for me at the Tualatin Fred Meyer. Got 6 free bottles of the 50 oz. hypoallergenic kind. Too bad it’s not HE compatible, but my mother can use them.

Worked like a charm at the Fred Meyer on 224/212. Purchased two 50 oz of the hypoallergenic kind, got the CAT. Nothing simpler than that!

Just tried this at the FM on Burnside/21st with the 50 oz hypoallergenic kind. No cat printed. Returned them. It didn’t look like it was HE compatible anyway.

I just did this deal at 148th and Division FM and they had lots of detergent left. I used the in store coupon on the first transaction and got my $4 cat. Then I did the transaction 2 more times without using the in store coupon (since it is limit 2) and rolled the cat and only paid $1 out of pocket each transaction. The y were on sale for 2/$5 anyway so it was still a pretty good price. That way I didn’t have to travel to so many stores and I still got a good deal. Oh and I bought the hypoallergenic each time so I don’t know if other ones work.

Sounds like you just need to make sure you buy the 50 oz, not the 64 oz for the catalina to work. Thanks for the info, we needed laundry detergent!

I did this transaction three different times on the hypoallergenic, and it worked every time. I went to three different stores in the Beaverton area.

The hypoallergenic kind worked for me at two separate Freddy’s. If you don’t have more coupons for your second transaction both my stores had conversation hearts for 14 cents a box which made for an easy cheap filler.

I just did this deal twice today & it worked both times. I bought 1) 50 oz ultra purex w/softner & 1) 50 ox ultra purex w/color safe bleach & received $4.00 cat. It was at the Fred Meyer in Beaverton.

I tried this transaction twice this morning with two different kinds of the Purex and with both attempts no catalinas printed 🙁 the check out clerk said she’d only had one print the day before and it was with the brand I had purchased. Bummer!

I bought the concentrate kind this morning (still the 50 oz) and the cat didn’t print… it must only be certain varieties.
