I have been a loyal Cetaphil Moisturizing Lotion user for over a decade now. It is one of my toiletry indulgences (the other being Aveda’s Shampure Shampoo). But I really dislike the price of the lotion, even though it takes me three months to get through a bottle. Even Walmart’s price is hard to stomach, so I’ve taken to purchasing the store brand. I’ve tried Walmart’s (though it’s now discontinued), Walgreen’s and Rite Aid’s. They are all pretty much the same.
I just love that first “Back in the Saddle” Rite Aid transaction has allowed me to get the name brand for less than the generic equivalent!
Rite Aid’s generic is on sale for $8.09 this week, but I was able to get Cetaphil for less by combining the stores sale, coupons and +UP Rewards.
Cetaphil products on sale Buy One, Get One 50% off
Buy 2, Get $2 +UP Rewards
Bought 2 Lotions @ $12.45 = $18.68 after sale
Used (2) $2/1 coupons (-$4)
Paid $14.68, Received $2 +UP Rewards
I decided this was such a great deal for my lotion, that I would do a second transaction:
Bought 2 Lotions = $18.68 after sale
Used (2) $2/1 coupons (-$4)
Used $2 +UP Rewards from transaction #1 (-$2)
Paid $12.68, Received $2 +UP Rewards
I paid $27.36 out-of-pocket and have a $2 +UPs to roll on my next transaction, making each bottle $6.34, which is over 20% off the generic sale price.
I certainly don’t think $6.34 for a bottle of lotion is a “stock-up” price for anyone other than a Cetaphil snob. On top of getting a great deal on a product I use anyway, I now have a year’s supply in my closet, which means I don’t have to make a special trip to the drug store or Walmart when I run out!

went shopping for the very first time at our new Rite Aid. After rolling one UP reward, I left because I didn’t know if I could used the UP reward to buy the same product and still get another UP reward to print. I know you can’t do that at walgreens, but your deal above shows that you did get the up reward even though you used your first up reward to buy the second?????
Yes, +UPs roll without restrictions! Go for it! The only issue is if there’s a limit to how many deals you can do on your wellness+ card.
I like the cetaphil SPF, just returned from MX, and used the spf50– kinda greasy at first, but feels clean and light soon after.
I just bought costco’s generic, is it any good? Anyone try it before? Is this price per ounce cheaper than costco’s when it ison sale?
I’m a Cetaphil snob too, work in dermatology and it’s what we recommend to all our clients, the cream for bodies, lotion for faces and cleanser for everything!!!
Also, check your doc’s office. I’ve found many a Cetaphil coupon at ours.
This post makes me so happy. Sometimes when I am writing the Rite Aid match ups, I waffle on posting a few of the deals. While I may think they are fantastic for items MY family uses, I hesitate to post because others might think the price is way too high. This post shows me that it’s not just the FREE or moneymaking deals that people want.
@Aimee – There are $2/1 coupons in just about every magazine subscription that has ever been written. That may be an exaggeration, but I swear I find them everywhere! Look through some of your old magazines if you have some lying around. 🙂
We’re Cetaphil snobs! I keep meaning to make my way to Rite Aid for this deal, although we just got a giant tub of it at Costco (we wait till it’s on Costco coupon). The tub works better on my daughter’s skin, but the regular lotion is fine for me (and backup for her if Costco doesn’t have a coupon for months). I just saw last month that they make sunscreen, we may try that out next summer.
Where did you get the $2 off coupons? I have a $1 off from their Facebook page (only allowed one print).
