Most of these deals use a Safeway double coupon, which is available at Oregon & SW Washington (Wahkiakum, Cowlitz, Clark, Skamania & Klickitat Counties) Safeways only. You can double up to 4 manufacturer’s coupons per transaction, up to $.50 each. Safeway is inconsistent from store to store about doubling internet printed coupons. The double coupon is found in the weekly ad at the bottom of the middle page and look’s like this:
Safeway stores are inconsistent from store to store with their double coupon policy. The following is taken directly from Safeway’s Just4U coupon policy on their website:
Check with your local store regarding “double coupon” promotions where customers will receive double the manufacturer coupon face value off the regular or club card price up to the identified limit. Not all locations offer double coupon promotions and the terms of such promotions may differ by time and store. Limitations and restrictions for double coupon promotions may change at any time. Changes will be posted in store only. “Double coupon” promotions do not apply to any internet or digital coupons except for applicable internet printed manufacturer coupons. These explanations and restrictions on “double coupons” apply to any promotion that increases the value of a manufacturer coupon beyond its face value.

I would have to say Olive Oil too. i never really see sales for them here. It’s like 5 – 9 dolalrs for a little bottle. However, when I can get into town which isn’t often i want to stop at Sam’s they have a huge bottle for I want to say 11 dolalrs.
Howard says
Nice quickie trip today: one FE salad kit (free after $2 cpn from Dec produce booklet and doubler); two So Delicious yogurts (free after $1/1 cpns and doubler); one Mott’s apple juice $.49 after cpn from 1-11 and doubler. The yogurt isn’t that delicious, but it’s OK. Most cashiers at my store double internet cpns and those marked DND.
Caro says
I see that Howard mentioned the Fresh Ideas coupon book. My local store hasn’t had them for a couple months. I thought that they might have discontinued them. Does anyone know?
Howard says
My store (SW Portland/Barbur) usually puts them out, but not always timely. The one I used was from Dec. I asked for the January book the other day and the produce guy said they must not have come in yet. They used to be printable at the tonytantillo site, but that’s been down for months. There’s usually a Fresh Express cpn in each issue.
Renee says
I can never get any FI coupon books, because someone comes in and takes all of them from the Sandy Safeway (also the Gladstone one). I had relied on the Tony Tantillo website, but now I just miss out on all the really great deals. 🙁
Caro says
The produce guy told me the same thing happened at the Woodstock store awhile back. I was in the store last week when I heard something and heard the produce guy say something. When I asked what was going on, he said that someone had dropped a bottle of juice, picked it up and dropped it again so it broke. Why????? The person was gone, so I didn’t see who it was, just the mess that had to be cleaned up. 🙁
Howard says
Perhaps you could ask the produce clerk or mgr to save you 1 or 2, or maybe not to put all of them out at once. At least once I’ve noticed at my store that the booklets are there, but someone’s torn out all of the FE salad cpns.
Eryn says
I am not finding the Progresso soup OR the Yoplait Greek coupons in the 1/4 SS (Oregonian). Anyone else have better luck?
Caro says
No Progresso Soup qs of any denomination in the 1/4 SS here the SE part of the People’s Republic of PDX.
Howard says
Yes, ladies, I got both cpns in 1-4 SS Oregonian. They’re in the one with Healthy Essentials on the cover, about halfway through the booklet. The Progresso one is good on any product, not just soup. Also, I believe there is (or was) a $1/4 Progresso soup cpn in the J4U cpn center.
Howard says
12-7 SS also has the same Progresso cpns, $.50 on 2.
Caro says
What a great guy you are, Howard. I found the 12/7 q. And, with your great description, I found that I had completely overlooked the 1/4 q.
Howard says
Thanks, you made my day too. 🙂 Happy shopping!
Howard says
Today’s 3-day ad back page lists Mott’s apple juice for $1.99. There’s a J4U download cpn for $1, but you can do better with the $1 cpn in today’s SS circular and a doubler.
Caro says
THANKS!
Howard says
I went to a different store today to get 2 more and they were gone. They did have the Mott’s Tots version, but that stuff tastes worse than dishwater. But Brittany’s Safeway post for the upcoming week says these are $1.67 on sale starting Weds.
Angela Davis says
Mott’s for Tots is such a scam. They just add water to water it down so parents don’t have to take the time to water the juice down themselves.
Courtney says
They have the glade wax melts or scented oil refills bogo (not sure if it’s a manufacturer coupon or store sale) plus there is a manufacturer coupon for $1.25/2 and also a $1/$1.50 ibotta offer. So if it’s a store bogo it would make for a pretty sweet deal 🙂
Howard says
Fresh Express salad kits are $2.50 this week. There were $2 cpns in the December produce book. I also had one on my J4U list from December that was valid till 1-31. (It may or may not still be on J4U; I hope it is for others’ sake.) For $1.50, I got a Caesar salad kit; two cans of Progresso veggie soup ($.25 each after J4U price of $.75 each, limit 2, $.50/2 cpn and doubler); and two boxes of Barilla pasta ($.25 each after $1/2 cpn and doubler). There’s also a $1 FE cpn on J4U but it may not work on the kits.

Woodstock Safeway
Pillsbury Gingerbread Cookie dough
50% off $3.29 (buy 2)
Use 12/7/14 SS $1.00/2
Use Safeway Double (.50)
Pay $1.79 Qty2 ($.89/ea)
Blaine says
I got an email from Starkist, $1/2 but would only allow 1 print per computer
Jen says
Hefty garbage bags are BOGO. With the $1 off coupon in last week’s paper it makes for a pretty good deal.
Vicki says
Has anyone seen the price on these?
Shelley says
On the Al Fresco Chicken Sausage, I followed the link and found a $1/1 coupon. Any idea is there is still a $2/1 out there?
Emily says
When I follow the coupon link for the Al Fresco Chicken Sausage, it’s for a $1 off not $2 🙁
Ellen says
I’n not sure if I am doing something wrong, but every time I click on a coupon, I get one of those virus sites.
Kate from Frugal Living NW says
Can you describe it a bit more? Is it the Adobe one?
Howard says
I suggest going straight to coupons.com instead. You have to search for the coupon by category instead of having it already clipped, but it always works for me. I sometimes have the screen freeze up after I click on the direct link. I don’t think the same thing happens with smartsource links, but I’m not sure. I have other issues with smartsource, aka dumbsource.
mmmm says
The Tuesday Columbian January 6,2015 has the $10/$50 coupon in the A section of the newspaper with a lot of coupons for other things you may or maynot try..It is always on the first Tuesday of the month barring holidays, the $10/$50 and Freds has the 10% coupon on Tuesdays each month they put it in their ad front and center 3 times in December 2015..New Seasons is 10 percent on Wednesdays and I think Whole Foods is 10% on Wednesdays for mature customers!
Charie says
Does anyone know if the Barilla pasta that is one sale includes the Whole Grain pasta?
Howard says
Yes, got it today, cooked it tonight in my soon-to-be-world-famous Crockpot Baked Penne. (or Rigatoni or Ziti)
Brenda says
Another good Friday deal:
Quaker Popped Snacks are $1 each, use the $1/2 coupon (1/4 RP) and doubl’r = .25 each!
Sara says
Thank you! They are my favorite 🙂
Howard says
Not seeing Starkist cpn in 1-4 SS Oregonian. Am I missing something?
Howard says
There is a $1/2 cpn on pouches on smartsource site.
Brenda says
Howard,
I didn’t find the Starkist coupon in either the Oregonian or Columbian. Thanks for the link, crossing my fingers that the Smartsource site will actually let me print the coupon.
Brittany from Frugal Living NW says
Dang. I found that in the database. It must be regional.
Howard says
I struck out on the online cpn. Hope you had better luck, B. I’ll have to eat my caviar instead…..
Brenda says
Nope, wouldn’t work for me either!
Caviar…ick! Apparently my palate isn’t sophisticated enough to enjoy that junk!
Howard says
Just kidding; shrimp and fish sticks are about as adventurous as I get with sea creatures. No fish eggs for moi.
Shelley says
Howard, check Just4U for a starkist coupon. I found one — better than nothing….
Howard says
Thanks, it’s a duplicate of the one I found online, no doubt. Many of the J4U “cpns” are ones we get in the Sunday paper or found online at the smartsource site. Better than nothing, yes, but I prefer the ones I can double.
Randi says
Does anyone know if there was a $10/$50 coupon in today’s paper for safeway?
Susan says
I get The Columbian and it is in there- A5
JHollyhock (aka Jennifer H.) says
Yeah! Thank you!
Randi says
I looked at the columbian and the oregonian and couldn’t find the 10/50 coupon. Thanks though!
JHollyhock (aka Jennifer H.) says
I hate when that happens. There was one time I was at Safeway and was going to use the coupon but I checked the paper like 5 times and couldn’t find it, so I left. Later I read on here that it was in the paper, just in a different spot. Sure enough. I went back to the store and there it was.
Howard says
It was on page D12 of Wednesday’s Oregonian FoodDay. The back page.
