Safeway: Red Baron Pizza $.49 each

Here is a great deal I found last night on Red Baron Pan Pizzas. They were tagged $3.99 when you buy more than 2.  Beware, however, because they didn’t ring up that way and they had to send someone back to double check the tag. I know these aren’t healthy but they keep me from eating out when I don’t want to cook.

Red Baron Pizza on sale $3.99 when you buy 2+
Spend $15 on Frozen Food, Get $5 Catalina
Buy 4
Use (4) $1/1 coupons from Safeway Frozen food pamphlet (Do Not Double)
Use $5/$15 coupon from the Safeway Frozen food pamphlet
Pay $6.96, Get $5 Catalina
$.49 each after coupons & Catalina when you buy 4

Open Nature Pizzas are also on sale, and a bit more healthy.  I also did this transaction last night, note that you need a $4.02 filler item to get to $15 :

Open Nature Pizza on sale B2G1 (3/$10.98)
Spend $15 on Frozen Food, Get $5 Catalina
Buy 3 plus $4.02 of other Frozen Food
Use $1/1 Open Nature coupon from Safeway Frozen food pamphlet
Use $5/$15 coupon from the Safeway Frozen food pamphlet
Pay $9.50, Get $5 Catalina (Approximate, depends on the extra frozen food item you purchase)
$1.13 each after coupons & Catalina

Most of these deals use a Safeway double coupon, which is available at Oregon & SW Washington (Wahkiakum, Cowlitz, Clark, Skamania & Klickitat Counties) Safeways only. You can double up to 4 manufacturer’s coupons per transaction, up to $.50 each. The double coupon is found in the weekly ad at the bottom of the middle page and look’s like this:

We are proud to be a part of The Grocery Gathering over at BeCentsAble, posting for Safeway in Oregon & SW Washington.

Does someone have a picture of the Red Baron $5 Catalina that was supposedly printing for some and not for others? I would like to write the catalina company and request my catalinas, if they are in fact a legit thing. Thanks!

I just did this deal and it worked great. They did charge $4.99 and i had to go to customer service and they refunded me 4 dollars other than that perfect deal.

Yesterday I did the $15 frozen food to get the $5 catalina. The $5 didn’t print out and I know I was over $15.00 without coupons (bought 3 California Pizza’s (no mfg coupons) and 1 bag of French Fries (no mfg coupons). I am calling Catalina – Safeway is no help!

I got my total down to .64 cents after manf. coupons and I got the $5.00 cat!! I have done tons of transactions and as long as it is $15.0 before manf coupons I am getting it. But it can not be used on anything other than 15.00 worth of frozen food. I tried to use on on milk and they said no. It should state it can be used on frozen only but it does not??

I used it on water and they didn’t say anything they had to manually enter it in.

Re $5/$15: It’s funny cuz Just4U personalized prices alter the purchase price, though you have no idea what might kick in once you get to the register. For instance, some of those prices on Safeway.Com are “one time only,” but some can kick in until the end date, and you’d have to know the date for your “personalized price.” Unless you go over the $15 by about $4 by buying one more item, you really can’t be sure of making the $15, and if it’s B1G1, you’re going to have to zero out those free items completely. Not to say that it isn’t a great deal with the $5/$15, but just for us who enjoy “winning,” there is a complicated strategy here unless you’ve already done the deal once, know exactly how it works, and do it again immediately.

Did two frozen transactions exactly right but it didn’t print the CAT! Wondering if they are making $15 be the total after coupons? The coupons take the actual price down on the receipt so it looks like you didn’t spend enough when you really did 🙁

I ran into an interesting problem with the $5/$15 frozen food coupon yesterday. I bought way over $15 worth of frozen food, but I was buying the B1G1 Totino’s Pizza Rolls, among other things. The free ones rang up as zero, so my frozen food didn’t total up to $15, and my $5 coupon couldn’t be used. I thought about redoing it, but I’d bought so much other stuff, I just couldn’t cope with the idea.

I just did 3 Red Baron Pan Pizza ($3.99 – $1 Q) + 1 Jose Ole Mini Taco ($3.99 – $1 blinkie on the cooler). Also used a $5/$15. The Cat printed out just fine for me. (OBH Safeway in Longview)

As I was leaving, I noticed the Pizzas rang up $4.99, went to customer service and they refunded the $3. Definitely check that the pizzas are ringing up right at the register.

I’d go straight to customer service (before even leaving the store, if possible). They’ll usually give you the cat in cash. IME (in my experience) : )

Customer service at my Safeway tells me that Catalinas are “random,” i.e., the machine just decides to spit one out or not, sort of like a lottery, I guess. I tried to reason with them, but to no avail.

Just wanted to give everyone a heads up that a lot of people are having trouble with the frozen food catalina not printing. Some people seem to be getting it okay, but many others are not, so proceed with caution!

The above scenario points out that after buying 3 Open Nature pizzas you’ll need and extra $4.02 or more of frozen food to hit $15.

Omg, this is fabulous deal on anything frozen — basically $10 off $15 before any manufacturer coupons! Do know what the dates are for this Catalina? I’m gonna rock it to death — time to re-org the freezer!

I bought a couple of the Pan Pizzas yesterday at Safeway and quite a few boxes had $2 coupons attached. Keep an eye out for those. I would have liked to have done the deal detailed above, but I don’t have much freezer space at this moment. My problem was that I was charged $4.99 for each pizza, when they should have been $3.99. Grrr…
