I can’t seem to find the stayfree coupon. Is there a secret to finding them on coupons.com?

About Free or not. I don’t regulary shop Walgreens because as you said unless I need the item, it’s just out of pocket money for me. However, last week I wanted to get the Pullups for $4.99 after sale & $2 coupons and the nescafe for $5.99. So I was willing to spend $11 at Walgreens. Playing around with deals and RRs, I spent only $8.30, got the two items I need and also 3 cans of Hunt’s tomatoe sauce, 1 salt, 1 baking soda, 1 candy cane, 1 Omega 3 Factor, 1 Pain patches, 1 flu medicine.
So it’s good if you want the item (Like Free) after RRs or if you want other things that week then why don’t stretch your bucks.

Can you tell me more about Safeway? Do they accept coupons that print at Fred Meyer for example with Fred Meyer logo?

Which other safeway stores accept Walgreens RRs?

    Thanks

They accept any coupon that says ‘manufactured coupon’ If it is a store coupon you can only use it at the specified store. But a lot of the catalina coupons are manufactured and you can use them at safeway.

I hated Walgreens because I felt like they would have a week with great stuff followed by a week of nothing so I was forced to use my RR’s or lose them….THEN Safeway started accepting them! So, now I just buy what I want at Walgreens then use the RR’s at Safeway if I can’t find anything at Walgreens I want to apply them to.

Maybe I have been under a rock, but Safeway takes RR?
I though they only accept catalina’s for actual products,no?

The Safeway in St. Helens, OR, always takes Walgreens Register Rewards. They are technically manufacturer’s coupons; they even have an address for the retailer to send them in for reimbursement. I’ve never had a problem using them at Safeway ever since they started taking manufacturer’s coupons with other store’s logos on them. Some cashiers double check with the manager if they’ve never processed one before, but they are always told to accept them, and the coupons always scan just fine. Hopefully a Safeway near you takes them as well.

yep that is what i do also because there are never very many deals that i want/need at wags…although the black friday deals were pretty awesome and enabled me to get my 20$ P&G rebate for a couple bucks…just the first item i paid for!

Cris – I want to give you a BIG thank you! I was able to use my $9 rr (from the Oscillium) at Safeway tonight.

I checked with customer svc to make sure it wouldn’t be a problem and they were totally cool with it.

So thank you so much for sharing this info!

Janelle–I feel the same way as you do. It’s not free. It’s 50% off–that’s how I think about this type of deal. If the Vitamin Gummies are something I always buy AND if I can find some other necessities ON SALE to use the RR on, then it’s a super great deal. Otherwise, it’s not that great. If there was a coupon– let’s say I had $1 off coupon for the V Gummies, then it’s like I’m buying a $5 certificate for $4 (with the Gummies as bonus).

Yok – it’s interesting what you say – that you look at it like being 50% off. My husband looks at it like this too. One day I go into Walgreens, and buy a bunch of stuff and get rr’s. The next time I go, I basically get everything for free, because I use my rr’s. So he says that I’m able to get 50% of off our stuff we buy there.

Well, you need to keep the logic going past two trips. 🙂 The third time you go is paid for with your RR from the second trip. The fourth time is paid for with the RR from the third trip. And on and on and on it goes. When you do it like that, then it really is free. You give money, get the same money (in the form of a RR) back, then spend the free money on more stuff you need, and those things give you more free money. 🙂

Janelle, if you do Walgreens on a regular basis hopefully you have some RR’s left over for the next week. Then it wouldn’t cost anything. The way I look at it is this. Walgreens might have something in the ad that’s a good deal, what would I spend on it if I were to go to that store to buy it, $5?? well I can take the $5 I am going to use to buy deodorant (or whatever) and buy vitamins and get a $5 RR to pay for my deodorant so I got both items for the price of what I was going to spend anyways on deodorant. Also like this week I knew I was going to do the vitamin deal that gives the $10 RR. I didn’t have any RRs to roll but these vitamins are something my husband takes so I am okay spending the initial $10 for them, they have a coupon in them for $3 off so every one after the first I make 3 bucks on so for my initial $10 investment I have gotten 6 bottles of vitamins, 5 things of foil, 5 small Christmas candies, 4 aftershave, 4 pill glide spray 4 salonpas arthritis patches, Draino! free breathe right strips, a bag of cotton balls, a canister of salt, 2 small cans of tomato sauce, oh and a pencil. My total spent has been right around $14. So that’s why she can say they are free.

I have a question regarding your “free” items… how do you justify that they are free? You’re still paying $$ OOP for some items, and, for someone for whom cash is short, this can be deceiving. Say you get the gummy vitamins, and roll it to get something else “free”… you’re still paying $5 for the vitamins and the other thing. Great price, but definitely not free. Can you clarify for me? Am I missing something?
    Thanks

Janelle- if you’ve been couponing at Walgreens for a while, you’ll have some RR already. For me, the first trip I ever made I spent about $10 OOP and got back a bunch of RR. Those items weren’t free. But every trip thereafter, I’ve been rolling those RR into other items with RR and not paying anything OOP. So everything after that first trip was free.

I understand your logic though, I agree with the concept and I don’t count RR or catalinas as savings until I spend them. So if you don’t have any RR to start with, then it’s not technically “free” to you. I hope that makes sense.

It is the “net” price. This does make sense, because everyone has different prior rr’s, so there’s no way to write it up that would make sense for everyone unless it was written in that way.

The catch is that in order to make this work best, you have to shop these stores (Walgreens/Rite Aid, etc.) on a regular basis. Otherwise, you would end up losing money if you didn’t use the rr’s.

I was out of RR and no money to get more so I checked my points online (which I hate by the way and am waging a campaign for everybody to complain about to get rid of them) and I had enough to get 3 -$5.00 certificates for Walgreen’s. So now I have $15. in $$ to get more RR’s. Worth checking on. P.S. if you are signed up for Walgreens.com you still have to sign up seperately for Walgreensrewards.com.

Hmmm…I actually like the points, because when I go on-line and see how many $5 certs I have racked up, I get excited! Free stuff 🙂

So would you consider the Quaker oatmeal a good price, or do you think it will be lower in the weeks to come?? I know you had mentioned something about a big quaker sale coming soon??

Thank you for outlining the ones in Portland Metro area (Vancouver included in this) versus the ones outside of Portland Metro area. I get so frustrated getting excited for a sale and find that our area only gets “points” instead of RR when the ad comes out – yippee…

I’ve written Walgreens about this (never got a response), letting them know that they have lost a lot of my business. I’m sure there are others that do not go as often or spend as much… so this new rewards system is not so great for us couponers. =) I wish we had a Rite Aid a bit closer (I’m in northern Vancouver area and the closest is in SE Vancouver.) since we have quite a few Walgreens nearby.

I called the Rewards Card phone number and let them know that I have been shopping at Rite Aid way more than I used to because of this new Rewards system…. they didn’t like hearing that. Hopefully it will go back to normal soon.
