We’re going to start a more regular feature on Frugal Living NW: Deals with Dave from (surprise!) Dave, Kate’s husband and one of our family’s favorite people. Dave will be sharing both his shopping adventures and his recently launched weight-loss journey:
It’s official! After gaining untold liters of fat over the holiday season, I am caving, and doing what every red-blooded American male dreads — joining WeightWatchers.
Why is WeightWatchers such a struggle for men?
- In a man’s mind, doing WW is the diet equivalent of joining Curves.
- This type of weight loss system does not have an “X” in the title.
- There is a serious chance of losing essential amounts of testosterone just by looking at the website (this is already an issue for men over 40).
But here’s the deal: WeightWatchers has a proven track record of helping people lose weight, both women and men. Not to mention Charles Barkley used to do it, and he seems like he’s still a man.
If you join by January 31, 2015 and sign up for two months, the third month is free. I have no problem calling my manhood into question in order to save money.
In exchange for a free three-month WeightWatchers’ membership, Dave has agreed to share his weight loss journey with us. It’s going to be an absolute hoot.

I’m looking forward to it; it should make for some interesting reading. Just by walking 2 miles a day (most days) or playing golf, I’ve dropped nearly 25 pounds in about a year. And I’m not even fat!

Sure, right after putting up that potato recipe you go and put this up… ……….Not fair!!! 🙂
It that a hint to work it off afterwards?
