I haven’t posted my food budget pictures or menu for a while now, for many reasons, but I thought I would share what I purchased on $40 this week. No deals here, just looking for healthy food and good prices.

Trader Joes

TJ’s Honey 24oz. $4.49
Organic Chocolate syrup $2.69 (splurge)
organic yogurt $2.79
english muffins $1.99
TJ’s ground beef $1.99
4 avocados $3.29
bananas $1.33
Total: $18.57 (It’s so weird to not use coupons sometimes)

WinCo

Adams Pnt Btr $5.38
Bush’s Black Beans $.68
(2) Lindsay Olives $.98 each, used $1/2 IP ($.49 each!)
Mott’s Applesauce $1.73, used $1/1 IP ($.73!)
Whole Wheat Bagels $1.72
celery $1.04
(3) yellow peppers $1.74
red grapes, 1.29lbs. $1.68
Juanitas Chips $1.88
bulk pretzels $.68
leaf lettuce $1.58
bulk M&M’s $4.14 (unpictured, hid them quickly) (making some gift cookie jars)
Total: $22.23

Total spent for the week: $40.80 Plus my $10 gallon of raw milk.

What am i going to eat this week?

Esties Mom’s Yummy Salad
beef stroganoff
mini pizzas on english muffins
veggies from the garden
zucchini bread
cashew chicken salad sandwiches
raspberries from garden
black berries from picking on bike path
yogurt granola berry cereal for breakfast
chicken satay with green beans, from garden
and whatever else my fridge, freezer, pantry and garden inspires me to create!

So much for meal planning, but that seems to be how it has been this summer, especially with my husband gone. I will get back on track when he is back, but until then, I am kind of enjoying the freedom to just make a small meal for the boys and I.

Rebecca

I get my honey from Angela's bee guy in Boring — $16 for 1/2 gallon of honey! I love making Honey Glazed Pork Chops (honey mixed with soy sauce to a syrup consistency, marinade the pork for at least 20 minutes — grill).

    Rebecca,

You should consider getting your honey at Alice's Country Market. For about 10 bucks you get a nice big jar of local honey. Of course, if you're going to Alice's you have no excuse for not stopping in at my house!
