This is our fourth and youngest, Matthew. The shirt belonged to our third, Nathan. I thought we would be giving this one to another family (the shirt, not the kid), because the plan was for Matthew to NOT be a big brother, at least by blood…
You know what the Bible says about plans.
“Many are the plans in a man’s heart, but it is the Lord’s purpose that prevails.” (Proverbs 19:21)
Despite a couple of things done to keep us a family of six, God had another plan. It looks like it includes another Davis. And a genetic Davis at that. We will be welcoming our fifth (gulp) baby sometime at the end of the summer! I’m back to maternity clothes, naps, buying baby clothes (because I’ve given them all away) and planning my diaper stockpile.
In case being unexpectedly pregnant wasn’t enough, we moved! When I was seven weeks pregnant! We are embarking on a new adventure and have moved from our spacious, comfortable (read awesome) home to an apartment. This was another unexpected change (yet not nearly as unexpected as the baby), but one we feel confident is the Lord revealing His purpose in our life.
I am finally moving out of the yucky stage of both the pregnancy and moving and am getting more motivation to start functioning again, which is good for my family, my home and the blog!
A big thank you to the amazing women who work with me on this website for picking up the slack over the last two months and to the readers who have cut me some slack without even knowing what was going on in my life. Your grace and kindness has been such an encouragement to me.

Wow! That’s quite a story!! I too did learn that sometimes life takes you places you never expected or dreamed of; and that the best way to deal with it is to just take a deep breath, take a day at a time, try to not think too far or freak out, try to enjoy the best of what is and trust that it will all work out, that this is for the best, that whatever will come your way, you will tackle it superbly. I think that’s the only way to stay sane in this crazy thing called life.
Congratulations on the baby! And thank you for advice on deals!

Oh, I also understand the ‘gulp’. I am being induced with our 6th on Wednesday morning. Quite a surprise considering the oldest will be 20 years old in July. Eek. It’s always a blessing, though, whether planned by us or by the big guy upstairs. Best wishes to you and your family! 🙂

Good timing, as two of the biggest resale/consignment events are happening mid-March, one in Hillsboro & one in Beaverton:
Pass It On Sale (www.passitonsales.com)
Baby Bottom Dollar (http://www.bbdsale.com/)
Maternity, preemie-size 16 kids, toys, movies, baby accessories, and more.
Jennib says
Freckles: What are the events and when?
Freckles says
All info about where, when, how to consign, what they sell, etc are listed on their websites and facebook pages. However, I do know that BBD is in Beaverton Town Square, in the old Hollywood Video building, and PIO is in the old Bed Bath & Beyond building in Tanasbourne. Both sales are mid-March.

Congrats Angela! We were also surprised by number five, but I found it an easier andjustment as we were already use to lots of chaos. 🙂 I still look at my youngest two and think about how blessed I am that God decided to send them our way as I never would have thought I could manage 5 kiddos age seven and under. So glad that He knew better and has given me His grace every step of the way. Blessings to you!

Congratulations! From one mom of 5 to another! 🙂 I’ve always found each addition to be easier, the 1st being the hardest. I wish you all the best, throughout the pregnancy and after!

My last was quite a surprise too. I think I spent my first two trimesters in shock! Once he was placed in my arms I was so head of heals in love and knew he was just what I needed. He’s 8 in just a couple of weeks and has enriched my life is so many ways. I could NEVER imagine life without him.
My favorite saying is “Man plans and God laughs”.

Angela, what a breath of sunshine you are! I am also a mother of a large family (nine children to be exact!) and I know the joys and hardships of choosing this life. It is so wonderful to hear that there are others who choose motherhood! I salute you and thank you for your service to all of us. I recently moved here from another state and your website has been MOST helpful! I would love to talk to you sometime! Hugs!!!

Congratulations! I have five kids and I can tell you that five is a wonderful number! Although we adopted our last two, each one was still a surprise (long story!) and not necessarily what we had planned. Now, I can’t even begin to imagine life without them. They have made our lives so much richer!
I don’t know how you do all you do with four children. You are amazing – a great writer, a savvy businesswoman, obviously highly intelligent and talented. You wow me!
Congratulations again!
Angela says
Oh, I don’t do it all, believe me! My husband is fantastic and much of what has been posted over the past two months has been my contributing writers. And my mom does a lot of my laundry :).
Kristy G says
Congratulations! I too know the joys of having five children, and all boys at that! Our home is a noisy one to say the least, but I would not trade it for anything. Thank you for all you do.

Holy smokes, that was no “tiny” little surprise. Hooray for you and your family, so happy for you for so many reasons. Glad you’re getting out of the non-functioning stage of pregnancy and also glad to help in any way I can. Can’t wait to hear about your progress, thanks for sharing with us!
Angela says
Oh, I should have really told you before this, Melody. You know how fabulous I think you are :).
Melody says
Yeah, I can’t believe you didn’t come over to my house and tell me in person. 🙂 I was also just thinking that you went through an entire blog design change recently, CRAZY. You are super woman!
charolyn says
I understand the “gulp”, but know too (I think it’s more of a reinforcement & agreement-as you have nicely shared that you know this already) that as you are following God (and also in your home decision) that you will be blessed since you are obeying and trusting Him! He sees the BIG/future picture and we can trust Him in that. For which I am very thankful for too & appreciate that you are faithful to deliver that message to us also.
Megan says
Congratulations on your little one! Following the Lord does bring unexpected blessings!
You should take a look at this blog, “Five Kids Is A Lot of Kids” (http://putdowntheurinalcake.com/). It brings a smile to my face, and usually I laugh aloud, as it helps bring life into perspective and reminds me anew of the joys and challenges of being a mom.
