Attention, fellow “butterballs”. Sunday’s Oregonian page A11 has a 7-day FM butter cpn, two for $5, limit 2. About the best price you’re going to get these days. Glad I stocked up months ago when it was $2 or less.

I was told yesterday by cashier (and confirmed it with customer service) that they are enforcing the coupon policy of not allowing a coupon that makes an item free. They said there’s no reason a company should give coupons to make their products free, therefore these coupons are fraud. This was at Ellensburg Fred Meyer, and they said all the other stores will soon catch on.
Jennifer says
Umm, that sounds like utter BS! Companies DO offer free products either by coupon or rebate so that consumers will try their product. It’s an incentive to get the product additional exposure beyond the typical customer-base with the ultimate desire to increase the number of regular consumers and profits.
Fred Meyer needs to find a better way to thwart fraud and theft other than by erroneously speaking on behalf of manufacturers.

Beautifully stated, and DUH—FM gives us a FREE item or 2 on our rewards card nearly every Friday.

You are right. That got me thinking. So they wouldn’t accept a coupon that makes an item free, but they would accept the SAME coupon for a larger size just as long as it doesn’t make it free. It’s the same coupon fraud or not.

What about Fred Meyer’s free item that you can load onto your rewards card EVERY Friday?
