Nordstrom Anniversary Sale
The Nordstrom Anniversary Sale is now live and it. is. good. Make sure you check out our previous #nsale highlight posts so you don’t miss anything:
- Nordstrom Anniversary Sale must-haves
- The BEST high-waisted pants under $100
- Melody’s picks for under $50
To help with your shopping adventure, here are my (Angela’s) favorite tops and jackets from the sale. All of the tops and most of the jackets are under $100 (and the tops are under $50). There are a couple of jackets in the $140 range, but I think these are high-quality jackets that you will wear until you meet the Lord.
Chelsea28 ‘Victoriana’ Lace Detail Tank — $45.90 + FREE shipping ($69 after the sale)
Buy this shirt. Just do it. It’s fabulous. Ready for the best part? No special bra or cami or tank needed. Everything important is totally covered. And it comes in two colors (black and ivory).
Sizing recommendations for the Chelsea28 ‘Victoriana’ Lace Detail Tank: I’m wearing a medium. Order your regular size, as it doesn’t have any stretch or give.
Caslon Cotton Knit Open Front Blazer — $37.90 + FREE shipping ($59 after the sale)
I adore this blazer. It comes in five colors and is a great alternative to your typical cardigan. I especially love that it has a full-length sleeve (don’t force me into your three-quarter-length sleeve box, designers. Sometimes I like to be WARM in the winter), but looks crazy cute rolled up a couple of times.
Sizing recommendations for the Caslon Cotton Knit Open Front Blazer: Caslon sizing is totally about vanity. I’m wearing a petite small in the pic above and the petite XS fit even better, but I am going for the S so I can wear a long sleeve underneath comfortably.
This thing is going like hotcakes. If your size or color is sold out, check back in a day or two. Nordstrom will restock certain items throughout the sale.
Halogen Sleeveless Tie Neck Blouse — $37.90 + FREE shipping ($58 after sale)
I really liked this top in the store. In fact, I bought it. Twice. I found the petite version during my second trip and was planning to return the regular the next time I go to the mall. But I wore the top around the house for an hour or two (with the tags still attached and I had showered before I put it on) and I’m no longer feeling it. I love the pattern, but I’m not convinced it’s casual enough for me.
Sizing recommendations for the Halogen Sleeveless Tie Neck Blouse: I’m wearing a petite S (my regular top size is S-M). The S fits perfectly, but I’d definitely have to size up if I was bigger in the chest. The regular cut (non-petite) is fairly long and was snug around my bootie. The petite fit much better. I waffle between a petite and regular in tops.
I tried this Vince Camuto ‘Modern Confetti’ Print Jersey V-Neck Top on for the team, meaning you guys. I don’t like the pattern AT ALL, but I think the style is perfect for those of you who have to look nice for work. And I think the cut is incredibly flattering and camos el poocho. It would also look fab under a blazer and a nice pencil skirt.
Sizing recommendations for the Vince Camuto Print Jersey V-Neck Top: I’m wearing a M (my normal size for tops). If I was bustier, I could definitely need to size up. The material is super stretchy, so don’t necessarily size up for your mid-section.
You can also grab the Vince Camuto Pleat V-Neck Jersey Top in a solid blue or dark grey for $31.90 + FREE shipping ($49 after sale).
Pleione High/Low V-Neck Mixed Media Top — $29.90 + FREE shipping ($48 after sale)
Looks like I’m about to start my shift at the hospital. This cut could not look any more ridiculous on me. But, it’s not the shirt’s fault. It’s because I have small, small shoulders. Now, my friend Kate and my mom look like supermodels in this SAME SHIRT because they have broader shoulders. They need to buy one in every pattern and color and wear it daily.
Moral of the story? BUY IT IF YOU HAVE BROAD SHOULDERS.
Sizing recommendations for the Pleione High/Low V-Neck Mixed Media Top: I’m wearing a XS and it still looks baggy on me (and I’m typically a M), but Kate with broader shoulders wears her normal size in this top. It comes in petite online (couldn’t find it in my store), so that may help with the scrubs-resemblance in my picture.
Calson Draped Utility Jacket — $44.90 + FREE shipping ($69 after the sale)
It comes in three colors and is really comfortable. It’s a little on the precious side for me personally (because I’m anything BUT precious), so I skipped it, but I know many of you can pull it off. Or maybe I just styled it wrong and it could look better if I had different pants and/or top.
Sizing recommendations for the Calson Draped Utility Jacket: In the picture, I’m wearing a small. Size WAY down. I could definitely go down to a XS, especially if I was only going to wear a thin top under, and should probably go for a petite as the shoulders in the regular are a bit big, but I do have small shoulders.
Here are some other tops and jackets that look great (and priced right!) that I have yet to find in the store:
Two by Vince Camuto ‘Anchor Stripe’ Print Front Tee just $31.90 + FREE shipping ($49 after sale) – Recommended to size down because of generous fit
Two by Vince Camuto Sleeveless Speckled Slub Jersey Cowl Neck Top just $38.90 + FREE shipping ($59 after sale) – Recommended to size down because of generous fit
Halogen Belted Sleeveless Split Neck Top just $44.90 + FREE shipping ($68 after sale)
I’m intrigued by this top and am wondering if it would look cute with jeans?
Sejour Pleat Shoulder Stretch Knit Tee (Plus Size) just $31.90 + FREE shipping ($49 after sale) – Comes in six different colors and four sizes!
I’m thoroughly impressed with Nordstrom’s plus size styles. The cut is excellent and the prints and colors are subtle and appropriate for grown women. I like this particular top because it is a nice shape, but doesn’t resemble a tent like so many other tops in plus sizes.
T Tahari ‘Sheila’ Drape Neck Sleeveless Top just $37.90 + FREE shipping ($58 after sale)
This shirt does all the right things by drawing attention to your waist and I love the neckline. Perfect with a cardigan, blazer, or jean jacket (or with a skirt for the summer!).
Caslon Flap Pocket Plaid Shirt (left) just $37.90 + FREE shipping ($59 after sale) – Available in both regular and petite sizes. Good reviews and shows that the fit is true to size.
Rip Curl ‘Willa’ Plaid Flannel Shirt (right) just $32.90 + FREE shipping ($49.50 after sale)
I love both of these plaid shirts. They are not giant or super long and look great tucked or out.
Marika Curves ‘Elizabeth’ Slimming Tee (Plus Size) just $19.90 + FREE shipping ($36 after sale) – Four sizes and a GREAT value for a workout top or just a casual running errands or kicking around the house top! I love the ruching in the middle.
Billabong ‘Anchor by the Sea’ Graphic Tank just $15.90 + FREE shipping ($24.95 after sale)
Great price and perfect time for the summer!
BLANKNYC ‘Easy Rider’ Faux Leather Moto Jacket just $64.90 + FREE shipping ($98 after sale) – This is selling out fast!
Faux leather = affordable moto. And obviously it’s going fast online.
MICHAEL Michael Kors Asymmetrical Zip Front Hooded Trench Coat just $129.90 + FREE shipping ($210 after sale) – Available in both regular and petite sizes and a FANTASTIC value for a great brand!
I love the asymmetrical zipper — it makes a boring trench feel modern, but not so trendy that you won’t be able to wear it next year.
GUESS ‘Mod’ Hooded Jacket just $129.90 + FREE shipping ($198 after sale) – Available in both regular and petite sizes
I LOVE the mod style of this jacket. Crazy cute. Plus pockets. Plus a nice defined waist. Plus a hood? This might just be the best jacket ever.
Shipping and returns are FREE on all items!

Wow, nice comment that plus size women wear tent like blouses.

No, I said that plus-size tops often resemble a tent. I’m frustrated that there is a lack of cute, flattering, and modern options for women who wear plus-sizes. The tops that I highlighted in this post, I believe, are far more flattering than much of what is on the market. And there are plenty of tent-shaped shirts available for women who wear smaller sizes and they are equally unflattering.
