We just got this e-mail from Cynde:
Hi Angela,
I messaged Safeway about not having doubl’rs this week on their Facebook page and received this response three hours later. Perhaps it is worth posting.
Thank you, Cynde
Cynde, thank you for your patience while we researched this matter for you. We have reached out to our Advertising Department directly and they have confirmed that the Doubl’r is not being phased out. In fact, you should see them return next week! Also, communication will be sent to the stores to avoid any further confusion. We hope this eases your concerns. Have a great day! –Julio, Customer Support
Sounds like great news! Thanks, Cynde!

There are no doublers at my Safeway ever. I wonder if I can request it. People in this town are so used to not having one that I am probably the only person whining about it. Even so, being the primary grocery store in town, they don’t have to care about their business, people shop there anyway.
I never understood why some SW have doublers. We sure never have had them. We used to get cpns for $10? off a $50? purchase. It’s been so long since they’ve had one I can’t remember the particulars. Then they replaced that with some gas pts bonus. That one is gone now too.
They discontinued a bunch of products I used to buy all the time and prices have gone up since they were bought by Cerberus. The sales in the weekly ad are now at least half full of items marked ‘everyday low price’ with prices that aren’t great at all. The produce dept is the worst. High prices and nothing local. The amount of cpns in my JFU online offerings has decreased by half or more.
Very sad to say I now shop at Fred Meyers after shopping at SW my entire life. Unfortunately FM is in the next town over. And they are very crowded and busy. Probably from all the SW defectors.
Safeway doubles coupons in Oregon and SW Washington stores only.
Yes, some weeks are better than others. I am lucky to have a Safeway, Fred Meyer and Albertsons all within 10 miles of where I live. I try to hit up their best deals each week, but Safeway has become my favorite, so I am so relieved to hear that they are not getting rid of the doubl’r. I have been a faithful Rite Aid shopper for several years, and all their changes have been so disappointing.
I did not shop safeway this week, no doublers no sales in my opinion, hit the freds big sale, got lots of nice deals and yes used tons of coupons, they sent me a boatload and I used it on most of my purchases..It was a huge store and it took a long time but I persevered and got what we needed and new towels too for little money they marked them down accidentally but I asked and they sold me 4 of their $3.99 towels for $2.00 each and oh, my goodness sakes appreciative..your blog helps my family eat better and utilizes our income more wisely!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
