This is our fourth and youngest, Matthew. The shirt belonged to our third, Nathan. I thought we would be giving this one to another family (the shirt, not the kid), because the plan was for Matthew to NOT be a big brother, at least by blood…
You know what the Bible says about plans.
“Many are the plans in a man’s heart, but it is the Lord’s purpose that prevails.” (Proverbs 19:21)
Despite a couple of things done to keep us a family of six, God had another plan. It looks like it includes another Davis. And a genetic Davis at that. We will be welcoming our fifth (gulp) baby sometime at the end of the summer! I’m back to maternity clothes, naps, buying baby clothes (because I’ve given them all away) and planning my diaper stockpile.
In case being unexpectedly pregnant wasn’t enough, we moved! When I was seven weeks pregnant! We are embarking on a new adventure and have moved from our spacious, comfortable (read awesome) home to an apartment. This was another unexpected change (yet not nearly as unexpected as the baby), but one we feel confident is the Lord revealing His purpose in our life.
I am finally moving out of the yucky stage of both the pregnancy and moving and am getting more motivation to start functioning again, which is good for my family, my home and the blog!
A big thank you to the amazing women who work with me on this website for picking up the slack over the last two months and to the readers who have cut me some slack without even knowing what was going on in my life. Your grace and kindness has been such an encouragement to me.

Oh Angela, THANK YOU for sharing this wonderful news! I think I was pregnant with our third when you taught at our church in Carlton. We weren’t opposed to more kiddos but when we found we expecting 9 months later (using precautions, as well)…there were some tears 🙂 We’re due with #4 in May and are trusting that God will provide, also. Four kids under 6 years old is a little nuts but who would really want boring and normal! It’s just reassuring to know that we’re not alone in this adventure. I’m so amazed at the three children that we’ve been raising, I’d hate to miss out on any others 🙂 Hang in there and, again, thank you for sharing!!!

Being the third of 5 children, can I just say that I LOVED growing up in a big family?!?!? Can I just say that!?!?! And at the age of 42, just when I thot I was done done done……………….well, as I told my best friend that night, “Went to see the doctor today. Its not the flu.” And that’s all I told her.
Several seconds went by as she waited for me to elaborate…..and then it dawned on her. “OH MY GOSH!” she screamed, “MATT (her husband)YOU ARE GOING IN TO THE DOCTOR TOMORROWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWW!!!!!!!!!!!!”
Strangely enough, a lot of my friends husbands went to see the urologist right after our announcement…….
I love my little “surprise” baby. She’s 6 now, and in first grade, and missing both front teeth and excited about life. I always felt that a baby multiplies love in a house, and yours will be full to bursting! Congrats Angela, and don’t say no if someone says, “Hey, can I help….?”

Congratulations! #5 was a unexpected blessing for us too. She’s now 3 and despite having to re-purchase all the baby clothes, crib and carseats, plus moving during the pregnancy, she’s been the sweetest and most wonderful “surprise” I’ve ever had. We can’t imagine life as anything less than a family of 7 now, which seemed like an overwhelming number when it was just 6 of us. You know, “oh my, we are already so busy, how can we add more?” It all works out, and this little one coming will be such a blessing to your family.

My 3rd was a complete surprise…after medical “intervention” and my husband’s surgeon saying everything was done and over with (and we had a go ahead!), I found out I was pregnant, my dad diagnosed w/terminal cancer (with 6 months), and I lost all of the income I was bringing into the house, all within 2 weeks! God had perfect timing for it all and worked huge miracles, in my opinion! In my opinion? This will be the easiest baby, the craziest pregnancy, and you will feel blessed through it all. Congratulations and know you’re never alone in this! (BTW, I LOVE your blog! The craft and homemaking ideas are so much fun!)

Been there, done that. With a new testimony that God is smarter than I am. I am so blessed to have all of our children. By the way, my Korean best friend says that the Koreans have a saying that each child comes with his bowl full of rice. Kind of a “the Lord will provide”. Hope all goes well for you and yours.
