Best Gifts for Teen Boys
Teens can be tough to buy gifts for — they usually want super expensive electronics and honestly, not everyone can afford to buy an iPhone this year (or you know, ever).
Here’s a list of gifts that most teen boys will enjoy — and they are all quite affordable! And this list goes beyond what I know he’s asked for this year: a new iPhone, a hoverboard, video games, and cash.
CuberSpeed Rubik’s Speed Cube 3×3 Speed Cube
This is an amped-up version of the regular Rubik’s Cube. You can solve it faster and with more ease. If the kid likes messing around with a Rubik’s Cube, he’ll love this upgraded version.
And you might be scoffing at me if your kid has never played with one, but I have boys in my house who LOVE to mess with these. Lots of cool videos on YouTube as well!
Survivor Dry Box
These inexpensive boxes can be used to store anything or to take along on an adventure. Amazon has several sizes and styles.
A quality ammo box would work as well. You can get one of these in the sporting department of a large box store like Target or Walmart or a sporting goods store like Cabela’s.
A quality multi-tool is a gift that a young man can keep for years to come. And he can keep it safe in his dry box listed above!
Spikeball is loosely based on volleyball and is so much fun. The game itself breaks down and can be easily transported. It’s super fun on the sand but will work on any surface.
There are some knock-off brands on Amazon that will cost less than the official Spikeball — all of them work just fine. I’ve used the GoSports Slammo set without problems.
Nike Elite Socks
These socks seem to be magic because it seems like every young man wants them. You’ll pay about $8 a pair without a deal. You can purchase them directly from Nike or try to swing a deal from Amazon.
If you live in the Pacific Northwest, Fred Meyer should have a big stock of Nike socks for their Black Friday Half-Priced Sock Sale.
Tile
Use the Tile to find anything, like a phone, keys — anything that the man child loses on a regular basis.
This Tile Essentials Combo has four Tiles is a good place to start. It has 2 Stickers, 1 Mate, and 1 Slim. The stickers can stick to anything, like a skateboard, laptop, tablet, water bottle, Switch, etc. The Mate is perfect for a keychain. The Slim is the size of a debit card and can slip between small spaces or go into a wallet.
These Tiles work with Amazon’s Alexa or Google Home as well as the Tile app.
Portable Device Charger
Everyone needs a decent portable phone charger. The trick is to find one that is nice enough to actually work well but not so expensive that you lose your mind when he loses it. This portable charger seems to fit the bill.
Echo Dot with Alexa from Amazon
An Echo Dot is especially fun for a younger teen boy who doesn’t have his own phone. My boys ask Alexa stuff ALL DAY LONG. They can play games, do trivia contests, listen to songs and comedians. It’s hours of entertainment.
Quality Carry-On Luggage
If traveling is in his future, consider giving him a piece of luggage that will last for the next decade or so. This Samsonite Omni PC Hardside 20-Inch Spinner should work as a carry-on for most airlines.
If he travels on a budget airline or is going away for a short trip, this Samsonite Wheeled Underseater Small should work well.
Charging Cable Organizer
This is a less expensive travel equipment option — an travel organizer for his charging cables, portable charger, earbuds, and other electronic stuff. Amazon has a ton of options — this one is under $20 and will work just fine.
If he just needs one for school, this small one will work well. It has slots for a few cables/earbuds.
Slim Wallet
If he has his permit or license, chances are he needs a legit wallet without velcro. These three options are from Amazon, have great reviews, and are made to be slim so they can fit in a front pocket.
FurArt Slim Minimalist Wallet w/ Key Loop — under $10 (lots of colors!)
Herschel Charlie RFID Wallet — around $20 (several colors and textures)
Minimalist Aluminum Wallet — around $20
Since these are so slim, you may want to add a Tile sticker to the gift so he can find the wallet when he misplaces it
Experience Gifts or Gift Cards
If none of these options work, instead of handing the boy cash, consider giving him a gift card. Here are some ideas:
- Van’s
- Gas station near your home or his school
- iFly
- iTunes
- XBOX, Nintendo or Playstation
- Ski lift tickets
